SARASOTA STUDIO ARTISTS ASSOCIATION
OUR MISSION
Sarasota Studio Artists Association (SSAA) was created to restore a welcoming artist community, and support visual artists who have a studio open to the public. Our independent visual artists are an integral part of Sarasota’s arts culture, and the mission of SSAA is to shine a spotlight on their amazing talents.
Sarasota’s Rich Art History
Sarasota has a rich history of art and culture, which established Sarasota as the art city of the South. In the early 1950s, there were many art schools and artist colonies, with approximately 1,500 artists calling Sarasota their home. During this period, art was also big business for the city. The artists put hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy each year.
Today, Sarasota is home to hundreds of talented visual artists and many of their studios are open to the public. Whether you’re interested in abstraction or realism, sculpture or photography, we encourage you to use this map to visit local artists in their studios throughout Sarasota County.
